Specialist Training in Eating & Body DistressÂ
New training to Launch in 2027
Working with eating and body distress has been a significant part of my professional journey. My experience comes from working within NHS Eating Disorder services, an Eating Disorder charity, and supporting clients in private practice. Alongside my professional experience, my interest in this area is also informed by my own relationship with food and body image, giving me an appreciation of both the clinical and personal complexities involved.
who's the training suitable for?
I am currently developing a tiered training pathway for counsellors, psychotherapists, and other mental health professionals who want to build their knowledge and confidence in working with eating and body‑related difficulties from a relational perspective.
what does the training explore?
The training will explore Eating Disorders, Disordered Eating, body image, shame, trauma, attachment, identity, and the impact of social and cultural influences. Drawing on Transactional Analysis, relational psychotherapy, current research, and trauma‑informed practice, it will help practitioners understand eating distress beyond diagnosis and symptoms alone.
