My Approach

My official titles are - UKCP Accredited Transactional Analysis (TA) Integrative Psychotherapist and Certified Imago Relationship Therapist (IRT) - a mouthful, I know!

How I describe this to new clients is simple. TA is a model of psychology that helps us understand who we are, why we are the way we are, and how we interact with both our inner and outer world. It provides the foundation of my therapeutic identity.

The integrative part means I draw on other modalities I’ve trained in, including humanistic and cognitive approaches, to inform my practice and what I may be able to offer - a bit like a metaphorical rucksack full of tools.

“We use our relationship as a safe place to explore yours”

IRT is a relational model of therapy aimed at healing relational ruptures in romantic couples, though any duo can engage in IRT. I often introduce aspects of IRT to individual clients too, because we are relational beings in lots of different relationships!

I also work in a deeply relational way - that is, I use the therapeutic relationship itself as part of the process. I pay close attention to what happens between us, because that’s often where old patterns, unmet needs, and new possibilities begin to show themselves. I work developmentally too, which means we’ll explore your childhood and early experiences, and how your past plays out in the present.

“My shelf of tools helps us meet the parts that don’t yet have words.”

Creativity is part of my work too. I use imagery, metaphor, body awareness, reflective exercises, and my shelf of creative resources to help you access parts of yourself that words alone can’t always reach.

I’m also directive in my approach. I will challenge you with nurture - asking direct questions and naming my observations - to support insight and change at a pace that feels safe and manageable. My aim is for us to co‑create a space where you feel understood, supported, and gently challenged in the ways that help you grow.

I’m accredited with MNCPS and UKCP at Level 6, and I’m currently working towards UKCP Level 7 accreditation.
